Welcome to the website of the Pearl dance group!

The Pearl group is a dance company that performs in a variety of styles: Indian classical (Bharatanatyam and Kathak), ancient and contemporary dances (including dances from films), Arabian Bellydance and traditional dances, and also contemporary choreography based on motives of Turkish, Chinese, Japanese, ancient Eqyptian cultures and so on.

The Pearl group was established by Olga Budarova as an amateur ensemble in 1993 in Voronezh, Russia.

At first the group was focused primarily in Indian classical and popular dance. It appeared in Voronezh, Moscow and other cities of Russia, participated in various festivals and contests. The group has won several prestigious awards and became Laureate of the Classical Indian Dance Contest at Indian Cultural Center, Moscow.

Subsequently the repertoire was widened to include Arabian, Turkish, Chinese, Japanese and other oriental dances. The group became professional and founded an educational facility to train dancers of high level. The group started to appear abroad with great success: it became Laureate of Festival International de Monastir, Tunisia, in 1997. The programme was made in collaboration with Troupe E-Chabab, professional Tunisian traditional music ensemble. The group made tours in Syria, Jordan, Italy and other countries.

At present, the Pearl dance group is well known in Russia and abroad. It presents programs of high professional level, consisting of Indian classical (Bharatanatyam and Kathak), ancient and contemporary dances (including dances from films), Arabian Bellydance and traditional dances, and also contemporary choreography based on motives of Turkish, Chinese, Japanese, and ancient Eqyptian cultures. The group has beautiful authentic costumes and accessories and uses advanced creative techniques to bring fascinating charm of Eastern culture to the audience.

"As the sculptor gave the unseen world of the Infinite a comprehensive wholeness in the figure of the dansing Nataraja, so the dancer through her own medium tries to extend the vision of the spectator into further reaches of time and space to give life itself a wholeness."

Mrinalini Sarabhai, the Dancer
